Since the 1960s, Filt1860 has embodied French excellence in the manufacture of technical textiles, with a particular focus on aquaculture. As a specialist in mussel farming, we design and produce tailor-made nets that meet professional requirements while addressing the environmental challenges of the blue economy.
At Filt1860, our commitment to sustainable aquaculture is reflected in innovative textile solutions that respect marine ecosystems. We offer a complete range of products designed to combine high performance with environmental preservation :
Our nets are supplied in rolls and sold by the meter. On request, we prepare ready-to-use nets: cut to size, tied and/or elasticated according to your specifications. Our expertise allows us to work with a single material or to combine two different fibers, in order to meet each client’s exact needs.
Tubing nets are specifically designed for mussel farming on stakes and ropes. We manufacture them with mesh sizes ranging from 14 to 40 mm, using a blend of cotton and polypropylene. Cotton ensures the spat remain in place during installation while allowing space for mussels to develop, whereas polypropylene guarantees strength when wrapping around stakes and during handling.
Catinage nets play a key role in holding mussels on stakes as they grow. In addition to protecting them from waves and currents, they also provide a barrier against marine predators. These nets are produced in synthetic materials such as polypropylene or polyester, with mesh sizes ranging from 20 to 60 mm, according to your specific requirements.
Filt1860 is proud of its industrial heritage and of being awarded the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Company) label by the French government in 2017. This distinction acknowledges our excellence and our commitment to sustainable, locally based production.
Whether for mussel farming on stakes or ropes, seaweed production, or other marine applications, we provide bespoke, ready-to-use nets with mesh sizes adapted to every need. Our ability to work with a wide variety of materials – polypropylene, polyester, cotton or even bioplastic – enables us to deliver precise, high-performance technical solutions.
At Filt1860, we believe in a blue economy that combines economic performance with the preservation of the oceans. By combining innovation, compliance with environmental regulations and artisanal expertise, we contribute to more sustainable aquaculture and to the protection of marine ecosystems.
Filt1860, your partner for innovative and responsible aquaculture.
